I know others have done this but I've been wanting to do this for a long time. A self portrait is one thing but macro work is HARD when you can't look through the lens! It's the sharpest image I got out of over 30 takes.

Ah, you are allowing us to look into one of the windows to your soul. Hmmm, there seems to be a lot of photo equipment in here ....
Having just taken a gazillion photographs of the top of my head, I know just how you felt taking these. Next time use your tripod and a mirror. The tripod is to hold the camera. The mirror is so you can vaguely see the LCD screen. You also need a chair -- for your bottom.
I agree! It IS hard work! I have done it too! And taking EARS isn't any easier! LOL! You did great -- and your eye is beautiful!
Another good "Blue Eyes" song is on The Garden State sound track. I can't remember the artist's name who sings it though...
The eye behind the lens! Great capture and the eye is open just wide enough!
Thanks for your kind comments and for adding me to your regular jaunt through the bloggerhood, Robert. I'm enjoying your photographs, too. You have such an adventuresome attitude and joy in the simple things. I like seeing how you see the world. And today I even get to see you seeing yourself seeing, um, . . . never mind. Nice eye. :)
Wow! Well done!!! How long did it take you to get such a great shot of yourself? I would have been at it all day long.
Great job Robert!
Fantastic eye! And so blue! You managed to get such a clear really close shot. Having tried this earlier in the series, I bow to your awesome accomplishment. I also the deep blue color of your eyes.
Forgot to say that I love the song to go with the photo.
I agree! Macro self portaits are difficult. My trick was using a mirror to see the LCD, but when you have a NICE camera like yours... I guess that's one advantage to having lower-scale equipment...
I see this shot and want to play with it, maybe zoom in closer on the computer and bump up the contrast and saturation and make it look graphic and unrecognizable...
Nice job! :)
Great shot. You have more patience than eye do....
What a great idea!
I'm impressed!
Photowannabe is phunny.
Ok Rob, This is to announce my big photo debut...
I HAVE SHOT BLUE!!!
Now how do I show it to U? Oh, dats right, I'll simply post it on my Blog.
Hee hee hee. This is so much fun
I've never tried to photograph my eye. I can barely take a self portrait with one of my daughters. We have oodles of pictures of half a head, half an ear or no chin.
(You wouldn't want me to take a picture of mine right now anyway. I got a 'present' from one of my students, a different colored eye~think pink. Bummer for me!)
