Look Who Showed Up For Dinner

While playing in the backyard with Lily late this afternoon, we were greeted by this hungry lil fellow. He chased away any competition for his dinner before settling in. He even hung around long enough for me to get a great profile portrait.

Julianne has been away since Wednesday and won't be home til late tomorrow evening. She is at the Stampin' Up Convention in Salt Lake City. Fortunately my mother helped out and watched Lily while I was at work. She stayed later on Wednesday and Thursday as I had some unscheduled and unexpected doctor visits. As it turns out, I've got gall stones. So this means I go in for surgery next Tuesday. Since today was the last day of summer school, the timing couldn't be more perfect. I've never had surgery before so I'm just a little bit anxious. They make it sound like not too big of a deal though. I'm hoping for a quick recovery so I can enjoy my remaining month off of work and our upcoming vacation to Oregon.

I *love* this picture! I've actually seen a few humming birds flitting around this summer, but not long enough for me to whip my camera out.
Yikes. I've never had surgery either. It is nice though that it's happening at a good time (*is* there a good time for something like that??)

Awesome shot! I can't believe you caught it standing still!

Robert -- I have put you on my prayer list ( and your doctor, too). It is a routine procedure. All will go well.

I had a hunch when I saw the title of your post that it would be some sort of backyard animal... Nice capture -- humming birds are tricky!

I will definitely keep you in my prayers with your upcoming surgery! I certainly know how to pray...

Great shot! Hummingbirds are rarely still.

Grace and peace as you face surgery. I'll be praying for you.

What a beautiful humming bird! Sorry to hear about your surgery. I'm sure it's a very routine procedure. I hope you'll be up and about in no time.

Wow! What a beautiful shot! I'd so love to add a hummingbird picture to my collection. I got some nice blue jays today which I'll share on WW.

So sorry about the gall stones. If you let me know the time of your surgery, I'll send some reiki your way. And of course I'll keep you in my prayers. I had surgery centuries ago - lord, I'm so old you might not have been born yet. How depressing is that! But back to my point. I lived through it then and now-a-days they can do such small incisions and such that I'm sure if you respect your body's need to recover, you'll do splendidly.

My niece in AZ was very involved in Stamping when I lived there. We used to have gatherings every few weeks and our friend Sheila always went to the conventions. I guess they are great fun.

I never even though about her attending the SU! convention. FUN stuff - BTDT. My friend who took over my biz when I quit also attended.

Will be praying for your surgery and recovery, Robert. Will we see artsy pix of doctors and scrub nurses? Maybe some medical instruments and test equipment? Will they let you bring your camera into surgery? Hmmm...

The hummingbird picture is beautiful. I can't believe that it just sat there for you.

I have yet to get a "good" hummingbird shot--yours is wonderful, the detail exquisite :).

You'll do great with your surgery, while it's a BIG deal to you, it's a piece of cake for the doctor. Keep that in your mind :). You'll be in my prayers.

Good to scroll through all your photos, each one is a delight to the eye.
