We Interrupt This Summer...

...to bring you a taste of winter. These were taken with my very first digital camera on a trip to Lake Tahoe in January 2003. And to think this Olympus point n shoot cost as much as my dSLR body. Eeeeek! It had an amazing 3.1 megapixel sensor and I used a high capacity 128MB Smartmedia memory card! I can't believe how photography has changed in the last decade. I can also see how my photography has changed over the years. Three of the four images here needed to be cropped tonight as opposed to in camera composition which I try to attain these days. Anyhow, I hope these images are cooling to you in the midst of our hot (and humid for some of you) summer.

Lake Tahoe is so beautiful, isn't it! These really beautiful pictures, but you have indeed come such a long way since you took them... even though they are stunning. Thanks for the cheerful burst of winter and the beautiful critter shots, not to mention that cool snowman.

Brrr, this is like instant air-conditioning in humid MD! It is fun to see how your photography changes over time, isn't it? :)

Any mail yet?

I suddenly feel so cool and refreshed ;-).

I love the lighting on the trees shot, is it photoshopped or did your little P&S manage that? The squirrel is fun too, especially cropped in close like that.

Your old pictures are a lot better than mine. Most of mine make me cringe.

Yes, I can feel the chill :-) Enjoyed looking at the pictures a second time after reading about them. It is fun to see the evolution!

I like the blue bird best! :)

What would we do without AC, lol... I could handle the heat better if it wasn't sooo humid. I can sure appreciate these shots!

Yes, photography has come a very long way... makes you wonder about future technology.

Oh, about the shot of the hand. I never answered your question. I didn't use any filters or effects. It's a sculpture with so much detail, it looks like a real hand!

The snowman is a Christmas card waiting to happen!

I lived in Nevada for 10 years and never got to Tahoe! I guess I should have because I think it's been at least 10 years since I've seen a squirrel. If it weren't for the snow, these photos would have made me homesick.

Oh man, you had to do that didn't you! We just finally got rid of the snow up here in Canada and you had to go an remind me that it will be back in no time!! LOL!
I love the one of the squirrel.

My first thought clicking through from Bloglines was, "oooooooh! Look at that header!" :)

I especially love the third photo--the bird.

Beautiful shots. It's so pretty up at Tahoe in the winter. These turned out nice. A very refreshing change of scenery with the current hot weather.

It is fun to see how your photography changes over time. These are still great shots. I suspect there's been an artistic photographer hiding in there all along, Robert.
