Should I Keep It?

I've been on a quest. I've been saying for a while now that I wanted a new macro lens. And if you've been reading, you know my friend lent me one. My dilemma was whether to get the name brand with the higher price tag, shorter warranty period, and no lens hood, vs. the after market brand with the contrary in each case.

Jump forward to today, I decided to run errands on my lunch break and found myself at Best Buy. After finding the cables I needed for my computer, I browsed the camera section and saw the Canon lens (the former of the two listed above). Best Buy, not known for their best buys, had a substantially higher price tag than my camera store of preference. Higher by $130. I tried it out just to get an idea and to compare it to the one I borrowed. The salesperson asked me what I thought. I told him how much I liked it but that the store back east had it for far less. He told me that they can match their prices. After retrieving my jaw from the dropped position, I was then told that unfortunately they have none in stock except for the floor model I was testing. He then said they could sell the floor model for less. $50 less than the asking price from the store back east. Sold! It was a no-brainer. So here are the debut pictures with my new Canon EF 100 mm f/2.8 USM macro autofocus lens!

So...do I keep it?

WOW! Those are awesome photos, Robert! And such a deal. I'd love to get a macro lens. Of course, I think you should keep it.

Um, yes. You should keep it. Just so the rest of us can enjoy what you see through your lens. :)

I am so selfish. :)

wow, the bee is AWESOME! I am totally camera ignorant, but love taking pictures. It's a cause for happy-dance type celebration when I figure out some little thing that the camera does that I didn't know before (Canon PowerShot G5). Come visit me in paradise and check out my pic of a very pretty spider -

WOW... I can't even pick a favorite! I love the lady bugs, the mail box, and the macro shot of the yellow flower really up close.

I am quite jealous of that lens!!
