D is for Shayna (our Dog)

I had some fun editing the above image!

In 1998, Julianne and I moved to an apartment complex in which we lived for about 3 years prior to purchasing our home. Shortly after we moved in we discovered that the complex allowed occupants to have dogs. We both love dogs. Within the week of this discovery, we went to the local pet adoption agency. We entered a room of wall to wall cages, four high on the length of both sides. Echoes of barking filled the room, as if each one were screaming, "Pick me! Pick me!" While perusing the many dogs looking for homes, we looked into one of the cages. We met a pair of sad, yet intent looking eyes. Julianne and I turned to each other and we both noticed, "This one's not barking." We asked to see her and took her for a short walk. Following the application waiting period, Shayna came to live with us. She is such a wonderful dog. We could be gone for half an hour or a week and she shows equal excitement whenever we return. Lily loves to chase Shayna around the house but Shayna has had a tough time adapting to Lily. Hopefully as Lily gets older, this will improve. Although we have a California King bed, she avoids the open space and tends to sleep ON Julianne. She is a good dog.

She is BEAUTIFUL! ... I hesitate to ask this... is it my imagination... or is her nose crooked? Off center? Or is it just that 2nd picture? *blush*

What a beautiful dog! You can tell by the photos how gentle she is. I especially love the second and last photos.

Have a great Sunday!!

Thanks for stopping by this morning!
After reading Melli's comment and realizing that it wasn't just me that noticed her nose, I'm wondering, is her nose perhaps bent because of Lily? Sorry- couldn't resist.
I'm glad that when you decided to get a dog that you got one from the shelter.

She's so pretty. The cool-ometer bell is ringing. Your posts about Lily are beautiful, and now you tell us about your shelter pup. I've been very appreciative of your kind comments but now you're officially cool in my book. Thank you for adopting the quiet one, from another shelter fan.

Aw, no, I don't mind a bit if you include me on your sidebar! Every reader counts, right? = )

I hope you get a chance to shoot some weddings -- I'd love to see your images if you ever get to, so if you do, definitely post a few on your blog. Maybe "W for Wedding"!

Performance went really well -- my post should be published in about 15 minutes and I'll comment about it a little = )

Her nose is just fine. Perhaps it's the angle. Thanks for your concern though. If anyone bent it though, it'd be me from all of our rough-housing!
