M is for More from Mother's Day

Two unrelated sets of photos here except for the fact that they were both taken at the dinner table.

I shot this first one as my sister was relighting one of the candles on the table that had gone out throughout the course of the meal. I could not decide whether to leave it in color or b&w. So I decided to post both. I love the character of the b&w but I also love the brilliance of color in the other. Any thoughts?

And I just love this series of Lily. She is such a happy girl! (most of the time!)

Here are my thought on the candle pics.

I like both of them, but if you want the picture to tell the story, you keep it color. The B&W picture looks great, but you don't have any idea what it is or that there is a flame, only the color one tells the story that there is a flame. Just my thought.

Cute pictures of Lily!

Ahhhhhh... I totally disagree with ohcaptain! I like the B&W shot the best. I love the soft glow that you feel from the B&W version... the color shot is a bit more harsh. Maybe a little too bright. (LOL! You DID ask!)

Lily is so adorable! And I'm sure she IS happy! (most of the time)

Really, my favorite is the bottom picture of Lily laughing...

But as for the others, I think I like the black-and-white best -- I might just use an "Anna filter" (aka Diffuse Glow in Photoshop) to further accentuate the luminosity that is in the color image but lost a bit in the black-and-white. But both are good as they are!

I love both shots, I always find the b/w ones more dramatic, though...kind of leaving a lot more to your own imagination.

Your little girl looks just marvelous!

I totally like it in color....the soft glow from the flame makes the picture.

And of course, Lily....any one is great.....she is always beautiful!

I am always partial to B&W photos, but when I saw the color one of the candle, I loved it! So, my vote is the color one-- it's so vibrant!

And, the B&W ones of Lily, well, those are really my favorite in this post! She is a DOLL! :) I would love to just sit down and observe her chatter and laughter! So cute!

Thanks for the encouragement. It is hard sometimes to trust that God knows better than man.
I like the color candle picture by far. It just glows!! I guess maybe I see it that way because I am looking for light and color right now. The pictures of Lily laughing are precious- I can almost hear her. Our kids would have a lot of fun together!

Nice job Robert - on all photos!
I studied the B&W and thought it would be my choice, but when I scrolled down to the color shot it was WOW!
And Lily - oh my, she is a gorgeous little girl with the most precious face!

i first saw the bw and thought, wow!
then i scrolled down to the colour version and found it even more appealing. the colours are well balanced so it is my favourite, but only by a whisker.

lily is incredibly sweet, though :)

In this particular case, I'm liking the color one better. It reveals its warmth. The pics of Lily are fabulous! Like christy, they are my favorites of the post!

On the candle pics -- each is excellent in its own right.

The little girl series is delightful in its depiction of sheer joy.

I love the B&W of the candle lighting. Lily is precious as always!

I like both candles. The b&w is very romantic, the colored one is vivid and lends a party atmosphere. However, nothing can compete with the brightness of Lily, her smile is infectious and I could almost hear baby laughter.

Now I realize both color and B&W pictures have such expressive output...
