And the Winner Gets a Trophy - Wordless Wednesday

Today I facilitated our school's spelling bee. An interesting assignment for someone in charge of the school's mathematics program. But I digress. In addition to being the event's MC, I assigned myself the role of event photographer. A hat I gladly chose. Since I could not post pictures of children without mountains of release forms, I decided to get in close on the awards. You should have seen the smiles of the children that got to hold them at the end (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from grades 1 thru 5). A proud moment for the winners, their teachers, and their parents who came to cheer them on.

I am so glad that you elaborated. I COULD NOT figure out what was on top of the trophies (first guess was fairies). Glad it was fun. Jen

Are those trophy's little kids with wings? I've always found trophy figurines to be quite odd. But it sounds like a fun time was had. (When I was in school, I always like spelling bees, never won, but always liked.)

Happy WW :-)

Great shot! Sounds like great fun! I've been meaning to get in touch with you about my new adoption website. I'm looking for adoption stories, if you would be willing to share about your journey and your beautiful daughter. But first, if you have a minute, please visit my other blog, Waiting*for*Grace. I'm having a book give-away and you guys might want to join the fun! The website is being constructed, and isn't quite ready yet, but I'm wanting to include all kinds of resources for adoptive families. Would love to share your story, too! Thanks for stopping by this morning! Nina

Thanks for all the comments. It looks as though this has brought back some good memories for some of you. While the kids were being told the words to spell, I had to keep looking down at the master list to see if I knew how to spell it. I was wrong a few times! Scary, huh? Good thing I wasn't a judge.

I purposely shot this image with a limited depth of field. I didn't want the features of the trophies sharp. I was more interested in the blends of shapes and colors. Besides, the trophy tops were kind of odd as Frigga suggested. The trophy top was a spelling bee winner, with a graduation cap topped with the letter "B" on it and he had bee wings on his back. The kids seemed to like it so I guess that's all that's important.

I was never good at spelling! I bet the kids just LOVED getting those trophies.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy WW!

Great picture!

I would be right there with you looking at that master list...computers have made it too easy by auto-correcting everything I spell. That being said, I am a way better speller (in my 5th grade voice) than hubby...he once spelled "hello" on a note like this: hellow
Scary, huh...and he is edumacated!

Oh how I would love to see the faces! But, this is a great photo! :)

(And I laughed at the fact you, the head of the math dept. heading the spelling bee. That's just funny to me!) :)
